I have fought a good fight, I have finished
my course, I have kept the faith.

2 Timothy 4:7

Living Memorial: Ava Jones

In June 2021, Avelina “Ava” Jones went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after fighting a ten-year battle with cancer. She passed to the next life peacefully at her home in Newberry Springs surrounded by her husband and loved ones.

Her love for God and life was contagious. Ava will be remembered for her bright smile and warm hugs. She was an Air Force Veteran and had a 23-year law enforcement career where she made many friends while she served her country and community. In addition, she holds several Police Olympics records in track and field. Together with her husband, Ava built a successful business which they used to spend time together after she retired.

Throughout all her interests, she actively looked for opportunities to meet the needs of others and to point them to Jesus. Her areas of ministry include her church, family, fellow cancer survivors, competitors, co-workers, customers, and everyone she met.

She was a supporter and frequent attendee of Ironwood retreats and events over the last seven years. She was able to watch her nieces grow and thrive in the Lord while they attend and/or graduated from Ironwood Christian Academy. For these and other reasons, Ironwood was chosen to be the beneficiary of her memorial.

She has fought the good fight, kept the faith and finished the race well (2 Timothy 4:7). She is not dead, but alive and well with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with those who have put their faith and trust in Him. We do not mourn her death, we celebrate her new life!

Ava is survived by her husband, her mother, and numerous sisters and brothers. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

The Ironwood Living Memorial was created to honor the memories of lost loved ones as well as to encourage their families. All gifts made to the Ironwood Living Memorial are of lasting value since they further Ironwood’s mission of reaching young people for the Lord Jesus Christ, strengthening families, and serving local churches. As each gift is received, a special card is sent to the bereaved family on behalf of the donor (no amount is ever stated). A tribute is included in the Ironwood Dispatch as well as in the Ironwood Book of Living Memorials.
